My Journey into Couples Therapy
Helping Modern Couples Heal, Reconnect, and Thrive

I’m a trauma-informed, sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapist who brings over 15 years of experience helping couples move from disconnection to deep, lasting connection. As a first-generation Mexican American and President of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, I combine evidence-based methods with ancestral wisdom to create a grounded, compassionate space for healing.
Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of dedicating more than 15,000 hours to guiding couples toward transformative connection—far surpassing Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000-hour rule for mastery. This depth of experience allows me to quickly uncover the emotional patterns that keep partners stuck—often within the first session—and create a path toward vulnerability, healing, and reconnection.
As a first-generation Mexican-American and President of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my work. I know firsthand the impact of immigration, intergenerational trauma, and cultural silence—and how they show up in our relationships. My approach is trauma-informed, sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and grounded in an anti-oppressive lens that honors the complexities of identity, power, and resilience.
I integrate evidence-based methods, such as Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT, EFIT), with the wisdom of my indigenous roots. Curanderismo, an intuitive part of my lineage, informs the way I hold space—with reverence, deep listening, and attention to what lies beneath words. This alchemy of science and ancestral knowledge creates a truly holistic experience.
Throughout my career, I’ve assisted at EFT externships, presented at therapist workshops, written group therapy curriculums, and delivered trainings on EFCT to a range of organizations. I’m also trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 1, Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), giving me the tools to navigate trauma and emotional intensity with confidence and care.
My work is characterized by warmth, clarity, and a deep respect for the human heart. I specialize in supporting high-functioning partners who often live in their heads, helping them access the emotional wisdom of their bodies and their relationships. Whether you’re struggling with distance, miscommunication, or a loss of intimacy, I’m here to guide you toward the relationship you know is possible.
As a lifelong learner, mother of two, partner, and someone deeply devoted to love as a path to healing—I offer a space where you can reconnect not only with your partner, but with your full self.
